Rock Star Rehab

June 15-20, 2008

Dave Lever, Director

Feel as if life is just a blur? Burned out from too many long days and restless nights? You need “Rock Star Rehab” at the Presbyterian Camp on lovely Lake Michigan, June 15-20, 2008.

Come and Detoxify from the stresses and excesses of the past year. Restore yourself to your former glory just in time for the remainder of the camp season.

Come to the costume party dressed as your favorite washed up, burned out, or deceased rock star. Play your role to the hilt by bringing along a lyrics sheet for the Karaoke session to follow, and/or bring a CD with a favorite tune by your artist for the evening dance.

Choreography wasn’t that great on the last tour? Get back in step with “Ballroom Survival” after lunch, led by our afternoon activities master, Len Proctor.

Find your voice with the “Porch Singers” every afternoon before dinner, the perfect opportunity to get back into harmony with your lost muse.

Looking for material for that comeback album? Get back in touch with Rock & Roll’s folk roots with song and music at coffeehouse, then Contra the night away to live (fingers crossed) traditional music.

You’ll have the opportunity to form a new “band” for your next breakthrough concert, and a showcase for your talent (or AMUUSEing lack of it) at the Camp Show.

We’ll set the tone for this week of spiritual renewal with a campfire and drumming circle (weather cooperating) on the beach, so bring your drums, flutes, or an inspirational chant to share with the group.

The selection of restorative morning groups will depend on enrollment, so don’t hesitate! Reserve your space at the Clinic by submitting your deposit today. For further information contact Clinic Director Dave Lever (dclever@owu.edu) or Head Counselor (aka Registrar) Susie Stewart (susiegene@juno.com).

Remember, register early, register often, and bring your single friends. See y’all at rehab.

Rehab Sessions (aka morning groups):

Where do I go From Here? ~~  Nancy James.  Now that you are away from the paparazzi and your entourage; it's time to step back & take a look at who you are & what you want. This group will spend time  reflecting on what has made us the people we are along with exploring where we would like to go from here. Tethers and shaved heads welcome.

Yoga and Meditation ~~ Sally Schreiber.  Come renew and rejuvenate your body in this yoga morning workshop. Each day we’ll stretch our minds and bodies by doing some basic yoga, meditation and energy work. This is the place to de-stress your body and become energized. Please wear loose clothing and bring a blanket or cushion. We’ll be sitting on the floor for many of our activities.

Write it Out ~~ Gwen Valore.  This group is the perfect place for you to rehab your creative talents…or to discover them! If you are a blocked writer, a wanna-be writer, a washed up lyricist or just an ordinary person who’d like to start writing, come join us.  We will use the woods, meadows, and shoreline of Saugatuck for inspiration.

Additional morning groups may be added as enrollment dictates – "Check Back Here Often"

The past few June camps have been smaller and more intimate than the larger camps in July and August.  Those who have attended have made strong connections with fellow campers.  The weather in June can be cold for swimming, but really nice for sitting or walking on the beach, and the cooler temperatures are great for sleeping!  If you’ve never experienced a June camp, come and see what you’ve been missing.  Morning groups have been selected with a relaxed and spiritually enriching mood in mind, but we’ll still get plenty rowdy in the evenings.
